Summary:
The Transportation Category Associate will be responsible for supporting the APAC Transportation Procurement team thru the execution of the assigned sub-category sourcing strategies for the related Transportation spend of J&J Innovative Medicine. This individual will monitor, analyze, and report on the organization’s activities and will support APAC Transportation Procurement Category managers to deliver against targets for service reliability, quality, financial performance (Cost Improvement, Inflation mitigation), innovation, sustainability (ESG), diversity, compliance adherence, and overall growth commitments. She/He will support APAC countries remotely, not only country she/he resides but also other countries with guidance from APAC Transportation Category managers in several countries.
The Category Associate’s scope of responsibilities including:
Tactical sourcing: Solicit proposals from suppliers for short term or spot needs and propose the awarded supplier by quantitative analysis.
Contract life cycle management: Actively manage transportation contracts and execute strategy for expiring contracts such as direct negotiation and extension. Negotiate and sign Transportation service agreements with suppliers to secure reliable Transportation services and best protect J&J interests.
Data base management: Monitor and update procurement spend dashboard and saving tracker to give transparent and timely status of procurement activities.
Internal communication: Monitor and update procurement information SharePoint for rate cards, market intelligence report and publish the announcement to internal stakeholders.
Project support: Support projects led by procurement category managers through market benchmark analysis, comparison and deep dive of supplier’s proposals, project timeline management and so on.
Collaborate with Warehousing Procurement teams: Co-manage the logistics suppliers and engage with the business in a synchronized way.
Main areas of focus are South East Asia and China with potential expansion planned such as Australia and New Zealand.
Estimated % of time spend:
25% Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance to financials, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
25% Engage with internal working partners and stakeholder, manage supplier relationships, communicate necessary changes to strategy, execute joint collaborative initiatives, supplier contract negotiations and monitor supplier performance.
20% Support regional category strategies development to include specific APAC Key business needs, contract implementation, inflation mitigation and performance against established targets.
10% Implementation, and maintenance of processes, policies, guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and Business Operating Principles
10% Analyze, monitor and develop reports on supplier performance around service, reliability, quality and innovation.
10% Facilitate the reporting of supplier performance with strategic supplier leadership.
Requirement:
Degree in any field of Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Science, with minimum 2 years of Procurement/ Logistics/ Transportation experience
Level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (e.g., supplier management and performance, supply market analysis, category management, Procurement Excellence, etc.)
Strong knowledge in Logistics processes especially for transportation.
Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary.
Analytical and process oriented
Commercial, strategy development, and negotiations skills
Adequate knowledge and experience in managing Transportation in South East Asia and China (parcel, courier, rail, ground, customs brokerage, etc.) market.
